The Philosophy Path is a lakeside trail encircling the Lake Ad Excellentiam. To make it more convenient for teachers and students to travel around the campus, the College built this shortcut along the lakeshore, connecting University Station, the Library, Chung Chi Tang and the Lingnan Stadium. 

The path is paved with stone slabs, lined with trees that provide shade and tranquility, making it a pleasant place for strolling and relaxation. The trail is named the “Philosophy Path” based on a suggestion by Prof. CHEN Te from the Department of Philosophy, as a play on words — “Zhe” (哲) meaning “philosophy” or “wisdom.” The name expresses the hope that, as students walk along the path, will slow their pace, reflect on the wisdom of past philosophers, contemplate the meaning of life, and develop a concern for the challenges facing the world.
