Chung Chi College 75th Anniversary

Wanderings in Art: CUHK Chung Chi College 75th Anniversary Art Exhibition

To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Chung Chi College, this exhibition, entitled “You Xin Yi Pu” (Wandering in Art), gathers artists of diverse paths to compose a single, resonant melody that weaves together campus life, the passage of time, and the spirit. Here, art becomes a thread that draws the years together, weaving seventy-five years of Chung Chi’s heritage into a composition in which one may both wander and dwell.

“You Xin” draws upon Zhuangzi’ s In the World of Men: “乘物而游心” (to ride upon things and let the mind wander). It evokes a state in which the spirit moves freely and at ease. When the mind is not bound by things, yet can wander with them, a state of ease is attained.

“Yi Pu” recalls Chung Chi’s leafy campus—a space that has long been a place where teachers and students immerse themselves in learning, and a garden that nurtures creativity.

Here knowledge and art illuminate one another, tradition and innovation converge, embodying the spirit of wandering in the arts.

The exhibition brings together works by distinguished artists alongside those of Chung Chi teachers, alumni, and students.

Encompassing photography, Chinese painting, mixed media, calligraphy, oil painting, watercolour, colour-and-ink, installation, music, and literature, these diverse expressions flourish like plants in a garden—each retaining its own character while resonating with the others. Every work is both a response to the world and a vessel of memory and spiritual aspiration, enabling the viewer, within the space of a few works, to glimpse the traces of the campus’s passing years and the free wandering of the mind.

We welcome all to enter this garden of art and let the mind wander among colour, line, ink, and sound. In so doing, may you savour the tradition of Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and together look towards a future that continues to unfold without end.
