Dear Students,

Greetings from Happy Ageing Lab! We are delighted to invite you to participate in “Hou2 Living Gallery @ City One Shatin (Phase III) – Participatory Estate Improvement Programme for an Age-friendly Living Environment”, running from September 2025 to June 2026.

From 2023 to 2025, Happy Ageing Lab Foundation (HALF) organised Phase I and II of the Participatory Estate Improvement Programme – “Hou2 Living Gallery @ City One Shatin”. Phase I identified the key attributes of age-friendly housing for promoting older adults’ well-being. In Phase II, wayfinding prototypes were developed and tested in the estate, collecting valuable insights into residents’ preferences and user behaviours.

With the support of the CU-ASK Social Innovation Grant 2025 and the invitation of the Property Management and Owners’ Committees of City One Shatin, HALF is now launching “Hou2” Living Gallery @ City One Shatin (Phase III). This phase aims to develop a holistic and implementable age-friendly wayfinding system for large-scale estates, enhancing older adults’ mobility, promoting ageing in place, and fostering inclusive living in City One Shatin.

The project will run from September 2025 to June 2026, bringing together a think tank of older adult residents, other residents, built-environment professionals, and CU-ASK students. CU-ASK students will support the research and design process, including:

  • On-site inspections and wayfinding analysis
